Shaheen Chowk Underpass Opening Date Announced
The federal government has announced the opening date of the Shaheen Chowk underpass, a key infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion in Islamabad.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the underpass will be opened for regular traffic on December 31, 2025. The announcement was made during an early-morning inspection visit to the project site, according to a report by 24News.
During the visit, the minister reviewed the final stages of construction, including finishing and carpeting work. He also examined ongoing landscaping and horticulture arrangements around the underpass and instructed the relevant authorities to plant more trees to improve the surrounding environment.

Mohsin Naqvi stated that the Shaheen Chowk underpass would serve as a permanent solution to long-standing traffic issues in the federal capital. He added that the project is expected to significantly reduce daily congestion and make commuting smoother for residents and motorists.
Once operational, the underpass is expected to play a vital role in improving traffic flow at one of Islamabad’s busiest intersections.
