The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has unveiled a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during New Year’s celebrations in the federal capital.

According to officials, more than 350 traffic officers and personnel will be deployed at major roads and key locations across Islamabad to regulate traffic and maintain order throughout the night.

As part of the plan, the entry of heavy vehicles into Islamabad will remain completely banned from 7:00 pm on December 31 to 3:00 am. The traffic police have warned of possible congestion on key arteries, including Islamabad Expressway, Jinnah Avenue, Srinagar Highway, Club Road, Murree Road, and Park Road.

Authorities expect increased traffic pressure at sensitive locations such as Jinnah Avenue Flyover, Zero Point, Khanna, and the PWD underpass.

To curb one-wheeling, reckless driving, and hooliganism, the ITP has formed eight special enforcement squads. Officials said strict legal action will be taken against car skating and dangerous driving, while parents have been urged to prevent underage driving during the celebrations.

The traffic police will also deploy additional personnel at recreational and entertainment spots and have advised citizens to use alternative routes between 7:00 pm and 3:00 am. Authorities have further imposed a ban on roadside parking during this period to prevent congestion and ensure public safety.
