Sindh police are moving ahead with plans to expand Karachi’s faceless e-challan system to several other districts, following its strong early results in improving traffic enforcement. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office, where senior officers and representatives from the Safe City Authority reviewed the system’s performance.

Officials briefed the IG that preparations are complete for shifting the Traffic Road Accident and Control System, also known as TRACS, to additional districts. The first phase of deployment will cover Thatta, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Larkana.

According to the DIG Traffic, enforcement cameras and TRACS technology are ready for installation. The upgraded system can detect number plate violations and other traffic offences, enabling electronic challans without any roadside interaction. Service centers have already been established, and staff training is set to begin soon.

During the meeting, IG Memon instructed all DIGs to run an extensive public awareness campaign before launching the system. He emphasized coordinating with local administrations, media organizations, and community groups to educate the public on key traffic rules such as wearing helmets, fastening seat belts, and using proper number plates.

The expansion aims to modernize traffic monitoring across Sindh and reduce direct interaction between motorists and officers, ensuring a more transparent enforcement system.

Here is the list of the six districts where the system will be launched in the first phase:

  • Thatta
  • Khairpur
  • Shaheed Benazirabad
  • Mirpurkhas
  • Tando Muhammad Khan
  • Larkana
