Islamabad’s Shaheen Chowk Underpass Opens for Traffic
The Shaheen Chowk underpass in Islamabad has been opened for regular traffic, offering major relief to commuters and easing congestion at one of the city’s busiest intersections.
According to 24NewsHD, the project was completed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in a record 63 days on the instructions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The underpass was opened immediately after completion to facilitate smooth traffic flow.

With the underpass now operational, vehicles traveling from Ninth Avenue to Margalla Road and from E-12 towards Ninth Avenue can pass directly without stopping at traffic signals. Officials say this new arrangement will significantly reduce delays and improve daily commuting for thousands of motorists.
The opening of the Shaheen Chowk underpass is expected to serve as a long-term solution to traffic congestion in the area, helping reduce travel time and enhance road connectivity in the federal capital.
