Karachi Authorities Seal 86 Auto Spare Parts Shops in Crackdown
The Karachi administration has sealed 86 auto spare parts shops during an intensified crackdown on illegal encroachments, targeting commercial activities that have been obstructing major traffic arteries across the city.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) as part of a broader effort to reclaim road space and address man-made traffic congestion. Officials stated that unauthorized shop extensions and roadside encroachments had significantly narrowed key roads, causing daily traffic bottlenecks.
According to authorities, illegal structures often reduce multi-lane roads to single-lane passages, disrupting traffic flow and increasing travel time for commuters. Such encroachments also create safety hazards by forcing pedestrians onto busy roads, raising the risk of accidents.

The crackdown has directly affected auto spare parts markets, which are frequently visited by car owners for vehicle maintenance and repairs. While officials acknowledge the short-term inconvenience, they emphasized that the operation is necessary for long-term traffic improvement.
Motorists are advised to avoid parking near active clearance zones, plan alternate routes, and use designated parking areas to prevent vehicle impounding or damage during enforcement actions. Authorities confirmed that the anti-encroachment drive will continue in phases across other congested areas of Karachi.
