Murree Police Release 10-Point Travel Advisory for Tourists

Murree Police have released a 10-point travel advisory for tourists as heavy snowfall and possible blizzard conditions are expected in the hill station. The advisory urges visitors to avoid unnecessary travel and strictly follow safety instructions to prevent accidents and traffic congestion during the severe winter spell.

District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer Sipra said police teams have been placed on high alert from Thursday evening to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow, adding that public cooperation is essential during extreme weather conditions.

According to the advisory, tourists planning leisure trips to Murree should postpone non-essential travel until weather conditions improve. Visitors who must travel have been instructed to ensure their vehicles are fully prepared for snow-covered and icy roads.

Vehicle Safety Instructions During Snowfall

Murree Police warned drivers to exercise extreme caution while driving in snowfall:

  • Use vehicle heaters carefully during prolonged stoppages
  • Keep windows slightly open to avoid carbon monoxide buildup
  • Reduce speed and maintain safe distance
  • Avoid night travel due to low visibility and icy roads
  • Use headlights in fog, not hazard lights

Parking Restrictions & Traffic Control Measures

The advisory strictly prohibits parking on main roads, sharp turns, or steep slopes. Tourists have been directed to use designated parking areas only to avoid blocking traffic and emergency routes.

Police officials stressed that illegally parked vehicles may be towed without notice to ensure smooth traffic movement.
