Punjab Govt Launches Electric Bike Scheme for Teachers in 2026
The Punjab government has launched a new electric bike scheme for teachers in 2026, aiming to provide affordable and convenient transportation facilities to educators across the province.
Under the initiative, teachers will be able to purchase electric bikes through an easy installment plan, paying an initial down payment while the remaining amount will be recovered through institutional channels. The scheme is designed to ease daily commuting challenges and reduce transportation costs for teachers.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat described the initiative as a major relief for teachers, stating that the government is prioritizing their convenience and welfare. He emphasized that improving transport facilities is essential for enhancing the overall quality of education in Punjab.

The minister also revealed that a proposal to provide free electric scooters to female teachers is under active consideration. Following the directions of the Chief Minister, a special transport package is being prepared to ensure safe, affordable, and convenient mobility for female educators.
Rana Sikandar Hayat added that improving teachers’ access to reliable transport will positively impact attendance, punctuality, and performance. He assured that the Punjab government will continue taking practical steps to strengthen the education sector and address teachers’ concerns.
