Major Karachi Flyover Temporarily Closed to Traffic
The Karachi Traffic Police has announced a temporary closure of the Murghi Khana Flyover (N-5) at the Qaidabad Interchange due to ongoing construction work related to the Malir Expressway (Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Expressway) project. The closure has been imposed to ensure public safety during girder launching activities.
According to traffic police officials, the flyover will remain completely closed in both directions from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on January 3 and January 4, 2026. During these hours, motorists will not be allowed to use the flyover under any circumstances.
To manage traffic flow during the closure, authorities have introduced temporary diversion routes. Vehicles coming from the Steel Mill side will be diverted onto the Malir Expressway via Ramp A and will rejoin the N-5 through Ramp D. Meanwhile, traffic traveling from the airport toward the Steel Mill will be facilitated through a temporary alternative route constructed through the riverbed, starting near Anwar Baloch Hotel and ending at the Murghi Khana Flyover.

Authorities have also appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel through the affected area during the closure period and to use alternative routes wherever possible to prevent congestion and delays.
